I am writing in response to your ad in The New York Times seeking a senior manuscript editor. I have enclosed a resume outlining my more than six years of editing experience.
At present, I am working as an editor for American Banker, a daily financial newspaper, and as a freelance book editor for a New York-based publisher.
I have also worked as an editor for, among others, the New York Daily News; The Hartford Courant, a major metropolitan daily newspaper that covers most of Connecticut; and a national magazine, New Age Journal.
I am looking for a position that would employ my line-editing and project-editing skills in combination with my advanced computer skills, which include WordPerfect, MS Word, XyWrite, Atex, and QuarkXPress.
My line-editing skills are highly developed. The best way for me to demonstrate this is by taking an editing test. I hope you will give me that opportunity.
